Hubert Wackermann

Bio:
Though born and educated in West Germany, Hubert Wackermann is eminently qualified to depict his favorite subject matter, the American Indian, his natural surroundings and relevant wildlife. His Indian paintings are the result of an intimate knowledge of his subject matter through travel, study and living with Indians. Thus, the prime characteristic of his work is authenticity enhanced by exquisite detail and the constant changing hues of nature's colors.

Wackermann's first study trip to North America in 1969 provided the opportunity to visit the Indians of Canada. Subsequent trips to Canada, the U.S. and Mexico in the early 1970's provided further opportunities to more thoroughly research the Indian culture and lifestyle.

Upon immigration to Canada in 1976, Hubert lived for a year on the Six Nations Iroquois Reservation in Southern Ontario. During this time, he taught art classes and had the opportunity for more in-depth study.

Wackermann trained for three years at the Georg Westermann Printing Office in W. Germany where he studied watercolor, pencil,pen and ink, crayon, tempera, gouache, lettering and design. He attended the Graphic School for two years where he pursued additional studies. Four years of study at the Art Academy in Dusseldorf followed plus an additional year as a Master Student to gain certification as an Art Teacher.
